Simple Birthday Cakes: 8 Flavours, No Additives or Artificial Flavourings
If you’re looking for something more understated than a multi-layer cake, we offer 8 of our best simple cakes in muffin-style or plum cake form, available in round or rectangular shapes. They are made from a single cake batter, with no layers of cream: some are served as they are, without any topping, while others are finished with a layer of ganache and a touch of nuts.
We make these cakes according to the same philosophy as everything else in our bakery: no additives or artificial flavourings, just natural fruit, real nuts and real chocolate. Our production is very limited — at any given time, we have no more than a couple of cakes available in the shop; all others are prepared to order.
The plum cake format, baked in an elongated tin, has English origins. The name comes from traditional English cakes made with dried fruit and raisins and baked in rectangular tins. Over time, this format spread throughout Europe. Today, it refers to a simple cake without layers, ideal for everyday enjoyment as well as a low-key birthday celebration.
What These Cakes Are Like
Unlike our sponge cakes or mousse cakes, these cakes are made from a single batter (wheat flour, eggs and, in some cases, oats), baked in a plum cake or round tin. They are designed for a simpler birthday celebration and are equally suitable for everyday treats.

Without topping — the cake is served on its own, allowing its natural flavour to shine: carrot and cinnamon, banana, apple or lemon.

With ganache — the same cake base is covered with dark, milk or white chocolate ganache made with real chocolate, then finished with chopped nuts such as hazelnuts, cashews or pistachios.
Many of our cakes contain gluten, eggs and milk, and some also contain tree nuts or soy. The exact allergen information for each flavour is always available on its product page.

Carrot
A moist, spiced cake made with freshly grated carrots (not dehydrated), cinnamon, nutmeg and crunchy pieces of walnuts toasted in-house. It has a dense texture and a comforting flavour. A simple cake in one piece, with no layers or topping. Looking for something more elaborate?
Banana
A moist, dense cake made with naturally ripe bananas and oat flakes, with no added sugar. Its natural sweetness comes from the bananas themselves, without sweeteners or flavourings. It has a compact texture and no topping.
Apple
A moist cake with pieces of fresh apple (not industrially made apple purée) and a delicate hint of natural vanilla. Tender and fluffy, with no topping — one of our most homestyle cakes.
Lemon
A light, fluffy and aromatic cake made with freshly grated lemon zest and freshly squeezed lemon juice, never artificial lemon flavouring. Fresh and citrusy, with no topping.
Chocolate
An intensely chocolatey cake with a moist, dense crumb, made with pure cocoa. It is covered with a glossy ganache made from real dark chocolate, with no added vegetable fats.
Hazelnut
An intensely flavoured hazelnut cake made with browned butter (beurre noisette), real hazelnut paste and homemade crunchy praline. It is covered with milk chocolate ganache and finished with chopped hazelnuts.
Lemon and Cashew
An extra-tender lemon cake with an intense, naturally citrusy aroma. It is covered with ganache made from real white chocolate and finished with crunchy cashews toasted in-house.
Pistachio and Raspberry
A pistachio cake with natural green tones from the pistachios themselves, without added colouring, combined with the tangy flavour of freeze-dried raspberries. It is covered with milk chocolate and finished with chopped pistachios and natural raspberry powder.

Can I order a simple cake without any decoration? Yes — that is exactly the idea behind this selection. The flavours without topping (carrot, banana, apple and lemon) are already served that way, with their natural texture and no additional decoration.
How long can a simple cake stay out of the fridge? Since it contains no cream or perishable filling, it can stay at room temperature for a few hours longer than a cake made with whipped cream. Even so, we recommend keeping it refrigerated and consuming it within 48 hours.
What size is the minimum 0.670 kg order? It is an individual cake intended for approximately 3–4 people, in an elongated plum cake format.
